and student achievement: Report of first-year findings from the “Mosaic”
study of systemic initiatives in mathematics and science. Santa Monica,
CA: RAND.
This manuscript is a series of reports resulting from
a study designed to investigate relationships between systemic reform
initiatives and student achievement in mathematics and science. Six sites
were chosen included in this “Mosaic Project,” and student achievement data
from grades 3, 5, and 7 were examined. The report found small but positive
relationships between student achievement and institutional practices
supported by systemic reform initiatives.
