This
manuscript analyzes Ohio’s systemic initiative to increase student
achievement levels in mathematics and science. A three-tier nested
research design was used to examine outcomes as the program was occurring.
The study found that teachers’ professional development activities had a
positive impact by increasing standards-based teaching practices, and
students’ tests scores were raised, regardless of socioeconomic status.
